Kevin Heinrich, President and CEO

  Kevin Heinrich received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Tennessee in 2007. He received his BS degree in 2001 with top graduate honors in Mathematics and Computer Science and his MS degree in Computer Science in 2004, both from the University of Tennessee. He has received the first and only Center for Information Technology Research Ph.D. Scholar's Award as well as the Hilton A. Smith Fellowship and a Chancellor's Citation for Academic Achievement. With articles published on text mining and information retrieval, Kevin has research interests in data mining, information retrieval, and bioinformatics. Kevin has one US Patent Pending.

Ramin Homayouni, Chief Scientist

   Ramin Homayouni is presently an associate professor of biology and the director of the bioinformatics program at the University of Memphis. Dr. Homayouni leads a multi-disciplinary team of researchers that investigate the mechanisms of neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration using mouse models. In addition, his lab is developing automated text-mining tools to assist in interpretation of genomic data using biomedical literature. His work has resulted in 3 US patent applications and has been published in over 22 peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Homayouni's research projects are currently supported by federal and private grants. Ramin Homayouni received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The University of Houston in 1996 and has held positions at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science.

Michael Berry, Chief Computer Scientist

   Michael W. Berry is presently a professor of Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to UT, Dr. Berry worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, IBM and the University of Illinois. He received a BS degree in Mathematics from the University of Georgia, MS degree in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University, and PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has published over 100 refereed journal and conference publications along with several books. Michael's research interests include information retrieval, data mining, bioinformatics, parallel and scientific computing and computational science and he has research funding from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and National Institutes of Health.

Marc Diaz, Acting Director of Business Development

   Marc Diaz, General Partner, has been intrigued with the convergence of business and technology making things simpler and more streamlined throughout his career. He applied this practice to the real estate industry, founding and currently operating Merge Realty and CloseTRAK. Previously, Marc began his career as the Vice-President for the Bond Division of the Financial Services Group of First Tennessee Bank and moved on to become Managing Partner and co-owner of Realty Closing Services, Inc. A pioneer in applying meaningful technology to the field of real estate, Diaz plans to launch MidSouth Residential in the spring of 2006. Currently, Marc also serves as the Entrepreneur in Residence at the FedEx Institute of Technology on the University of Memphis campus running a regional business plan competition. Marc has a B.A in Business and M.S. in E-Commerce from the Fogelman College of Business and J.D from the Cecil C. Humphrey's School of Law at the University of Memphis.

Eric Mathews, Acting Director of Strategic Planning

   Eric Mathews, General Partner, is the co-founder of Mercury Technology Labs, a venture identification and creation company operating from Memphis, TN. Eric was formerly the Associate Director of Corporate Research and Development of the FedEx Institute of Technology. At the Institute, he was responsible for leading economic development as well as growing and supporting technology based research activities. Eric's career has been entrenched in the various stages of technology development, including the founding, directing, and developing of new research centers and consortia. Eric has a B.S. in Chemistry from Rhodes College, a M.S. in Psychology from the University of Memphis. Eric consults with industry and has been quoted in international, national and local press outlets on the use and influence of technology in modern society and industry.
